Description

A Rococo mirror in a gilt-wood frame decorated with flowers and vines.
The lower part of the mirror is decorated with a vase with flowers between C-volutes that are decorated with flowering sprigs. The corners are C-volutes with vines with leaves and flowers that rank upwards. The top of the mirror is crowned with an asymmetrical volute that is decorated with vines and a rose in the centre.
The facetted mirror consists of two parts. In the 18th century it was still a hazardous operation to manufacture large sized mirrors. The habit of making larger mirrors in two parts also decreased the risk of breaking.
